Recently, I was thinking about how often we get stuck in a rut.. playing out the same old routines.
Having just moved to a new place I had trade in a lot of old patterns for new ones – where to shop, how to get around, which wifi spots are the best to work.. but sometimes we’re still using outdated habits.
At the old place I needed to light a match on the left stove burners. In the new place they worked by themselves, but guess what?
I still used the right side – without thinking.
For a while there was a story about the origin of our railroad gauge that circulated around. My friends at Snopes.com busted this myth – http://www.snopes.com/history/american/gauge.asp
Still, it makes a good point that we often don’t know why we do things a certain way.
Another story is the one about grandma’s recipe.

So here we are – holding around #5 to #7 on Amazon. I’m up against Jeff Walker with Product Launch Formula and Gary Vaynerchuk of Jab Jab Right Hook – these are the 600 lb gorillas of internet marketing and social media.
And then there’s little old me.
Sure, some folks who understand the full extent of this battle know that it’s a bit like bringing a knife to a gun fight.
I jokingly said that I feel like Rocky Balboa going into the ring, but as Scott Dinsmore mentioned one of my favorite quotes last night on a webinar “if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat..”
